While snapping of the light bar is rare any wear to this part - common with loose examples - compromises the strength of the fit, and a damaged light bar makes Machine Puzzler impossible to form. Just as alarmingly the weight of the top half of the giant - comprising three figures - is entirely held by Celica XX's chrome light bar. Furthermore, due to the forces involved, leaving Machine Puzzler in combined form for a long period of time can deform Corvette's tyres. This is further amplified by the connectors being diecast and the housings being chromed plastic, which can cause wear easily. However, Corvette's rubber tyres prevent the fit from ever being uniform, resulting in a varying degree of tightness. The upper torso relies on Corvette being folded in half and clipped in position via a metal hoop and thus pinching the connectors on Porsche 930T and Countach LPS500 in position. Sadly, despite some laudable design features - such as all the combined robot parts being integrated into the smaller figures, requiring no additional parts - Machine Puzzler suffers from several major flaws. The six members have no individual names, being referred to on the box and paperwork as Corvette, Celica XX, Countach LP500S, Porsche 930T, Benz 500SLC and Fairlady 300ZX. Released in July 1985 as part of Machine Robo, Machine Puzzler was a boxed set consisting of six figures that had car and robot modes and could further combine to form a single large robot.
